The arrival at the hotel is already great, because of the view. Both the building and decorations have a feeling of mountain cabin and it has gardens you can walk on. Staff was ok. We had dinner at the restaurant, which served very good food and after dinner you can read one of the many books available in the lounge area. The downside is the price, a bit on the expensive side, but the view during breakfast makes it worth it.
When driving south from Loch Ness we saw the brown sign for the Old Pines and on impulsed turned off. This is less than 1/4 mile from the main road but is beautifully quuet. We had a very good light lunch in the airy restaurant with large windows looking at the pines and beyond. Having planned to find lunch somewhere in Spean Bridge this was a much pleasanter option. Very happy to highly recommend for meals so I would expect the hotel accommodation would be equally first rate.
