Spean Bridge PH34 4EG, UK
Very memorable place for me as my grandad on my father's side of the family was one of the first to volunteer for the Commandos during WW2 and was shipped off to Japan for special operations. The place has a very proud and strong atmosphere of dignity to it. So many people there when I was there with coach loads of people paying there respects. Am emotional moment but one full of pride for the men who volunteered to protect us all.
Interesting for the history oriented travellers amongst us but not so good for kids as their is really just the statue and not much else. The imposing stone carving is stunning to look at and really gets the feels going when you start thinking about how the commandoes helped turn the tide in the war
